How did the conflict in Northern Ireland start?

Repost: Above photo: Protestant King William of Orange’s victory over Catholic King James in 1690. That’s when Protestants began their domination over Catholics in Northern Ireland. A character in “Trapped” named Callum briefly explained part of Northern Ireland’s history. His explanation is based on actual historical events. Here’s his quote. “Well, it all began in the late 1600’s. England moved their Protestant citizens here, took our property from us, and gave it to their citizens. Then the English monarch secured the best jobs for these British invaders. Giving them governing privileges guaranteed their continued supremacy over us. That left us Catholics with a life of terrible hardship for many generations. That’s why we fight, to be treated fairly.” Above photo is By Jan van Huchtenburgh – http://hdl.handle.net/10934/RM0001.COLLECT.8785, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=34318617
