On July 9, 1958, an earthquake is reported to have caused a megatsunami in Lituya Bay, Alaska.  It washed out trees to a maximum elevation of 1,720 feet! Ocean storms are caused by the sun’s heat and Earth’s rotation. They’re called hurricanes, typhoons, or cyclones depending on location. Otherwise, they are the same. If we are caught on the ocean during these storms, we may suffer motion sickness. One article claims women and children are more prone to seasickness. My husband described sweat literally squirting out of his pores. He vomited until their boat escaped the huge waves.
