Answer to a question about my writing process. First importance for me is to write stories about what I enjoy and what’s on my heart and to pray. Interesting characters are fun to develop by observing real-life people or characters from a movie, etc. An uncomplicated outline of my story keeps me on track of where I want to go, but otherwise I’m led by the path real life would take. The first draft’s goal is to just get it on paper. The second draft weeds out anything that doesn’t move the story forward. A notebook or computer program helps keep facts straight: names, quotes, etc. Actual photos of people, locations, etc. help me to depict them in writing. Sometimes I act out movements –like reclining on the floor– to help me describe them as well. I do many drafts, looking for telling instead of showing, passive voice, etc. After my editor corrects my mistakes and makes suggestions, I revise the story again. Then using Photoshop, I create a book cover. Finally, it is digitally sent to Kindle Direct Publishing. It’s fun to create. Some authors write about what readers are interested in. Thanks for asking. I’m happy to answer questions. That’s a photo of my husband, Ron, and I a few years ago.
