Would you dress like the lady in the photo in Malawi, Africa?

In Malawian villages, women are expected to wear long dresses with their shoulders covered. When we were there in 2009, only “ladies of the night” wore shorts or trousers and tank tops. Even the men didn’t wear shorts. Public displays of affection can be offensive to them, and swearing is frowned upon. You don’t see satellite dishes hanging off their huts. Without TVs or access to the internet, they have little influence from the outside world. A different world for me.
