As a friendly greeting sometimes you give a quick rub to a child’s head. I did that to one girl in a group of smiling children in Malawi. The others leaned their head toward me so that I would rub their head too. One by one. The children are so precious. You would think that because they are poor they would be unhappy. Quite the opposite, they smile and laugh a lot. When you pull up in your car they cheer and run to you in excitement. They love to play an outdoor game with you called The Hyena and the Goat. And when you leave, they chase after your car waving good-bye.
Children run to you in excitement.
How do you play the Hyena and the Goat? Is it like tag?

We hold hands and form a circle. One child who stays inside the circle is the hyena. He tags someone in the circle and that child becomes a goat who runs away from the hyena but stays outside the circle but close to it. The circle of players try to protect the goat without letting go of hands. If I remember right, when the goat is tagged by the hyena, he becomes the hyena. That last sentence I’m sketchy on. It’s been almost a decade and a half since I played. Does anyone know how to play this game? LOL
